lord mayor's procession

trying to actually experience things as they happen and also wanting to take photos and video is a never-ending battle but here's some wonky photos of some random bits of the lord mayor's procession.

big brain

i can't tell you how much i loved all the huge puppets. amazing, wonderful, perfection.
look at these guys
brilliant

also these kids with their signs and chants for making parks accessible, a classic bit of shouldn't even need saying. and then Snap, who leads the procession but i didn't get a photo so once i'd seen the whole thing i got ahead of the procession to see him again :)

i enjoyed it so much, the huge puppets, the colour, the drums, the tiny gymnast children throwing each other around over stone pavements (so brave), my big brain felt fed.

a little video of more puppets. when that kingfisher intereacted with me it made my day, puppets are magic.

castle acre

obsessed with how thick the spike on that candle holder is, i want to see the candles used. i'm imagining something quite huge and lumpy and soft but i have no idea.

we went for a visit to Castle Acre which is the name of the village and has ruins of a priory and a castle, castle acre castle. we went to the priory first because you pay to get in and it has a closing time then the castle is free and always accessible.
i loved it. the priory was medieval and then got mostly ruined by order of Henry VIII but this front section was turned into a farmhouse (my memory is bad, so take my facts with a pinch of salt) and you can still go in there and it's amazing.
love a ruin. always in awe of medieval buildings. you can get on that little balcony.
pigeon mama <3  this is inside the part that was kept in use. the photo on the right here is taken through the window on the right of the left photo above.
tudor painted roses still on the ceiling beams!
the urge to get inside the chimney was immediate and strong.

yes, we did walk down the toilet system like the goblins we are.

look at these arches and how they overlap and how cool it is. when we left the weather was pretty much perfect for exploring a ruin in bike gear but as the afternoon went on it got hotter and we got more dehydrated but we still wanted a quick look at the castle ruin. we were greated by all these purple flowers, it looked amazing.

i'd really like to go back to the castle when it's not as hot/while i'm not a shrivelled husk but it was beautiful in the sun with all the flowers and so many butterflies, more than i've seen in one place possibly ever. one day we'll go back and clamber up and down all of it.

then we headed home, stopping to down a litre of apple and mango juice in record time in a Lidl car park and feeling instantly revitalised.

Mousehold to the Marsh

we went to see the Kett's Heights performance of Mousehold to the Marsh by The Common Lot and it was great. i didn't take lots of photos but i did have a good time.

part of the performance included a few people (like the one with the yellow bucket here) potting seedlings and handing them out and one was given to Will! as they handed it over they said they think it's a chilli plant and it's now sitting on the shelf by the back door and doing really well.

we were perched on a low wall at the back and infront of us was a tree stump that had a wasp nest inside and aswell as the play we also got to enjoy watching all the different responses from various people being told to "be careful, there's a wasp nest in there", including the man that refused to not sit on it for qiute a while (like, sir, you may not care but the wasps might) and various kids not being watched and taking the opportunity to have a quick poke at it. luckily the wasps put up with everyone just fine.

cromer crab

i find life difficult so when i have a thing happen Will has taken to taking me out on the bike to blow away the cobwebs/stink brain/nervous energy and today they whisked me off to Cromer ( ^ ω ^)

we got chips and sat in one of the little huts on the pier and watched some kids learning to surf and had a visit from a baby starling

i took the first photo and then a guy appeared and was like "let me fix the sunglasses for you!" <3

  • all star by smash mouth in the chip shop
  • baby seagull on the wall, i'll take you home we'll give you snacks!
  • tide pool with tiny fish and crabs
  • beadlet anemones
  • watching a crab bury itself in the sand so just their little face was poking out the surface

june was quiet i guess

june started with going in there and having an interview

so Will took me on a big ol bike ride to blast all my excess energy/stink brain away. the sea heals.

a couple days later i got offered a role and then June was a bit of a quiet, waiting kind of month.

it wasn't a bad month, just, nothing else really happened.

although we did get the biggest storm i've ever seen. the only rain that normally collects in there is a couple cm in the gold pot.

dvd menu appreciation. love that the bat icon looks like a pasta shape. started playing Puyo Pop Fever my first go at Puyo Pop.

marmalade hoverfly

this puzzle is now on my studio wall. dvd menu 2, not quite as good as dvd menu 1 but has it's own merits.

lavender to dry and hollyhock that i should really move into bigger pots.
