May

Untitled

I thought this aloe vera plant was dying but then it started sprouting like crazy. It's got new leaves popping out all over the place now.

Untitled

I always get an odd amount of joy from cuts and bruises. On myself anyway.

Norwich was looking pretty fancy this month.

Untitled

This fella went off to Manchester the other day. I love drawing on envelopes.

It totally feels too soon to be June but also the start of May seems like a long time ago.

Other things in May:
I made my version of a Courtesan Au Chocolat, after it seeming like a long time wanting to and it turned out just as I wanted.
Will made himself a blog and also had some designs put up on this temporary tattoo website.
Radeko makes art by taking molds of her vagina and then decorating it in various ways. She's so inventive with it, it's really cool. "Don't be angry. Vagina is just a word." Plus, I think we can all agree a vagina bed would be really comfy.
The Anti-Social Club started with it's weekly creative briefs. My entries are here.
I managed to blog every day. The last day I didn't post anything was the 24th April so I'm pretty proud of myself. Not that blogging every day is particularly important to me, it's just good to know I'm doing something.
A couple of things I wish I'd bought this month, these two zines 1 // 2 and this print, the whole shop is pretty cute actually.

Here I come June. You'd better be awesome.

Invasion of the Multicolour Crochet

Untitled Untitled

I've been working on some banners on and off in between other bits for a while. I've been making all the letters/symbols to photograph as a sample for the customisable listing and spent last night putting the letters and flags in order, playing around with the colours. I'll use these to make the ready made banners so it shouldn't be too much longer before they're all finally sorted. Sometimes it feels like I have so many things I'm trying to do that none of them actually get done but it always comes together eventually.

Untitled

This is the cushion I mentioned the other day, I just listed it in my folksy shop.

My floor is looking really colourful right now. Multicolour crochet everywhere.

*For the letters on the banners I used this pattern by Moogly with a few adjustments, the banner itself is my own design.

The Anti Social Club ~Structure

Anti Social Club ~ Structure

For The Anti Social Club this week I had a bit of a play. The theme was structure which eventually led me to pylons. As you can tell I didn't look very closely at any pylons but had a go at drawing them anyway then added some embroidered wires in fancy colours all on the inside of an envelope. The crinklyness is a mixture of the envelope being kept in a draw full of various paper bits for a fair amount of time and not reinforcing the paper before sticking a needle through it repeatedly.
It could obviously have been done with a bit more finesse (and while in a less sleepy state) but I had fun doing it and I'd like to try adding embroidery to work in the future. It's what I did for my degree show actually but haven't really done since.

A New Friend

Untitled Untitled

We made a friend. We were heading out to buy milk and when I opened the door this guy was in the gap under it, that's why he's a bit dusty looking. Will picked him up to put him outside and we sat there watching him for a bit. How they move is fascinating.

Untitled Untitled

That's my hand right there with a caterpillar on it. Personal growth. I don't think I've ever held a caterpillar, I'm so brave.

Untitled

Then he fell off of his own accord and zoomed off back to the greenery. He was so fast, I was impressed. Look at his little tubey sucker feet. So cute.

My New Speedy Cheat Blanket

Untitled Untitled

Last week I brought some cushions home from The Craft Room because they hadn't sold. I've kept one aside to list on Etsy or Folksy when I get around to it but figured Norwich's loss is my gain and undid the others down the sides and took off the buttons and joined them to make a blanket for my studio. Not needed at the moment but I'll be mighty appreciative when autumn rolls back around.
I realise I put lots of time into these originally but it felt so satisfying to make a blanket so quickly, all be it a bit of a higgledy piggledy one. I reckon I'll keep adding to it too, the more the better is a fact when it comes to blankets. Especially blankets that will be used to cocoon me at my desk.

Sketchbook~ Stars and Sharpies

Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled Untitled

Seeing as I've had a crochet deadline this week all I've wanted to do is draw so I've been sneaking off to my sketchbook more often which is a good thing.

I hope you have a lovely bank holiday if you're someone who gets them or just a lovely regular Monday for those that don't. As a self employed type I forgot it was happening and am now annoyed that I can't post things. Oh well.
