Christmas 2016

Yesterday was twelfth night so I hope it's not bad luck to share Christmas photos today. I imagine most people aren't interested in anything Christmas by now but I felt a bit sad when I took the decorations down yesterday and going through my photos and videos is like a nice, gentle, last little nudge back to non festive life. Plus I'm slow at blogging lately and I didn't get around to doing this any earlier >_<






These first photos were the week before Christmas. Pinhead always gets festive and we always have a day out for festive drinks and to get some sort of joint gifts. We do this instead of buying each other presents and it's much more fun. Glittery marshmallows!!







The light tunnel was really pretty. I did vlogmas all through December so our festive treat day got it's own video, you can see the light tunnel do it's thing.






Christmas morning. Will has pretty much looked like this since he opened that present. He loves his grumpy Stitch so much.



Spreads made of leftovers and various lovely Christmas foods are pretty high on my list of favourite things about Christmas.





Our first year with a nutcracker and oh my gosh is there something satisfying about cracking a nut. Plus nuts are good for you so it totally balances out all the vitamins you're not getting from chocolates, maybe?
I strung together all my bits of video too. Again, it's more of one for us to look back at rather than a video made for sharing but I like it ^_^



Anyway, back to normal now. Kinda sad, kinda exciting. I love starting a new year and this one is nice and relaxed and productive so far. I hope the new year is treating you good too ^_^

Boomerang 2016

Boomerang is one of my favourite apps but there isn't really a lot you can actually do with those little 4 second videos. I thought stringing them all together would be a good way of keeping them to watch later and seeing as we're at the start of a new year I figured now was the time to organise them. I enjoyed watching the video when I put it together so I'm sure when I come across it again at some point it'll be just as fun. It's mostly me, Bernard and Snickers. Boomerangs seem to be the most 'authentic' way of capturing Snickers, how he moves is just as erratic when seen with your eyes lol.



I still feel weird putting videos online generally but this one I especially think "it's not going to interest anyone else, people are going to think I'm stupid for putting it up" but as ever I've done it for myself, adding things to places like youtube and here make it easier for me to look through, and if you want to have a look too I hope you like it but if not then that's fine. It always amazes me how much time people spend looking at things they don't like >-<

Mushrooms and Hot Chocolate

My parents came to visit at the weekend and we spent some of the time pottering about in the city. It was real nice.





This is part of a plaque where Edith Cavell is buried at the cathedral. I liked the sentiment, not the because of heaven part but generally, we're all just people, be decent to everyone (whether you're scared of god or not).




That's a dark hot chocolate. Will had the extra dark. They are both oh so very much good yes I'd like another please.

A Wednesday (and vlogmas)

I feel like all I do these days is realise I haven't been doing something that I really enjoy. I think I've been figuring myself out a bit over the past year or so (a forever project I reckon) and also dealing with general difficult life stuff (and everything else 2016 has thrown at us!) and thinking about what I want to do next with my work and I'm a little all over the place. I feel like once the mania of Christmas is out of the way I'll be able to settle into some sort of routine and I'll hopefully manage to fit all the things I like back into my days. I mean, just because you like something doesn't mean you have to be doing it all the time but I feel like I've unintentionally let some things go and not noticed and I want to get them back. Like taking photos while I'm doing something boring like walking to the city, how have I stopped doing that as often?! I got a bit caught up in how tiring things can be and not wanting to add stopping to take photos into what I'm doing that day but then that just removes some joy out of something which makes it worse, not easier. It's sad and I want it to stop so I'm going to try real hard ^_^




I started the day finishing off some orders and packing them up for my second Post Office trip of the week. I always feel bad if people order something right after I've just been to post stuff and try to do another run later in the week so they don't have to wait as long. I love it when people want names on their peas, it's always really sweet.





I know I'm not the only one but this really is my favourite time of year. The lack of light can get me down but I love being able to walk without getting overheated and everything is just so pretty. And when there is a sunny day but it's still cold, uh, that's my favourite thing ever.





We put some old shoes outside with all the best intentions of growing plants in them but apparently that doesn't happen if you don't do the planting and after care so all we've got is a lot of moss. But I love moss so it's worked out ok  ^_^

I've been doing vlogmas! I had a go last year and did it in 4 day chunks but this year I'm uploading at the end of each day. I figure in the evening it's too dark to film anything well and all I really do is die a little bit on the sofa and watch X-Files with or without some more work to do while I'm there so I've been editing and uploading early evenings. With a week down I'm feeling a little like what's the point, my days are fairly repetitive and not all that exciting but I am enjoying doing it so I'm going to keep it up. I'm sure I'll appreciate them being there at some point in the future, even if I do end up with 24 videos that are essentially the same lol.
