Summer Walk ~ 05/07/13

Untitled

Yesterday we went for a walk to the meadow.

It's got all sorts of flowers in it at the moment which makes up for the fact that they take the cows away (because the cows would eat the flowers).

Then we decided to walk up to the cemetery to find somewhere to sit and work for a bit. We went the wrong way for a little while and ended up walking down a road that took us back to where we started but we got there eventually.

The Rosary Cemetery ~ 03/07/13

Untitled

This afternoon we decided to go on an adventure and have a wander up a dirt path Will had noticed. We had no idea where it was going to end up but figured we might see a pretty house or something. After wandering along a few roads and round a few corners we stumbled upon a cemetery. At first it looked fairly new and small but the further in we went the more we realised how big it was and how amazing it was.

Untitled Untitled Untitled

It turns out the cemetery started in 1821 and was the first non-denominational one in the country. So everyone that didn't want to be buried (or weren't welcome) in their parish churchyard could be buried here.

Untitled Untitled

There's a few information posts around the cemetery and this mausoleum was apparently built while Emanuel was still alive and he'd come sit by it to smoke his pipe and watch the world go by.

Untitled Untitled Untitled

There's so much crammed in there, I think you could wander around for hours and not see it all. I was pretty excited when we found the Colman (as in, the mustard) family plot. There's all sorts of paved paths and not paved paths and hills and different levels and overgrown bits and not overgrown bits and it's just amazing.

Untitled Untitled

I've always loved cemeteries I can't believe there's such an interesting one so close to my house that I haven't known about for the past 2 years! I look forward to going back for a really good wander around when it's not meant to be just a quick wander as a break from work and when there aren't rainclouds hovering overhead.

Also, I'm going to have to make a point of wandering up and around all the roads near me now to make sure there isn't anything else nearby we don't know about!

Week 26

176.365

Day 176 - An ongoing blanket I'm making for us out of all the tiny strands that get leftover from everything else.

177.365

Day 177 - The evening before, Will had brought me some flowers back from the meadow.

178.365

Day 178 - Another 'ah I've forgotten to take a photo' photo. Some things on my desk that I'm working on.

179.365

Day 179 - Trying to sort out my studio. Failing miserably but finding some gems.

180.365

Day 180 - So many sewing patterns. I was given them a while ago, I've made a pile of the ones I would hope to make myself one day and I'm thinking about selling the others but I really don't know if people would want them or not, is there much call for old patterns? I think I need to do some googling.

181.365

Day 181 - Instead of sorting out my studio (which is currently just more of a mess than when I started) or doing work, I started a cross stitch picture of our house. I am slow at cross stitch.

182.365

Day 182 - Pretty much the only good looking part of my studio at the moment so I'll just concentrate on this. I sorted out all the embroidery threads a while ago, putting them all on the little spool thingys then the other day I found another box with a load more threads. Now I need more spool thingys. So pretty.

Some things this week:
This plant pot has the best face.
This jumper is just too pretty.
This skirt.
This Halloween jumper.
These leather notebooks look like they feel so good.

Basically this week I wanted to be shopping.

Week 25

169.365

Day 169 - Typical messy bad light desk shot.

170.365

Day 170 - I didn't notice the plant reflection until I had the photo on the computer but now it's my favourite bit.

171.365

Day 171 - Made myself a little crochet pouch with a zip. My zip attaching skills need practise.

Day In The Life Of June 2013 & 172.365

Day 172 - Sweets!

173.365

Day 173 - R2-D2 phone pouch. Will is currently using this so I know if all my stitching holds up then maybe I'll make them for sale.

174.365

Day 174 - I could watch this film over and over. In fact, I often do.

175.365

Day 175 - A very small section of my studio that looks nice, as opposed to the rest of it that is a massive wreck.

Some things this week:

This photo of a camel my dad took at the zoo.

Marloes de Vries' Tumblr.

This photo.

I made my first christmas sale of the year!

This tweet made me glad I'm not the only one that wishes for some mess. I don't have a problem with blogs (or instagrams or whatever) that only show off the good stuff. Maybe you only show the good bits and are happy for people to either make the assumption that you're sharing everything or to realise you're not. Maybe all of your house is always that clean and that perfect, maybe you never spend the whole day in your pyjamas. Sometimes you want to look at things that are better than your things so you can escape a little and sometimes you want to see that other people are just like you. I just see a lot more of one than the other which is occasionally frustrating.

More importantly here are two Scott Pilgrim gifs. 1 + 2. There is so much hair in that film that I want to be mine.

Sketchbook ~ Birds and Cold Sores

Untitled Untitled Untitled

I spent my Sunday afternoon with my sketchbook.
Cold sore grump face is me. I am mad at my mouth for being so mean to me. Cold sores suck.

Did you notice the piece of rubber that got in the scanner and then on all three of these pictures? It's bugging me.

Day In The Life Of June 2013

Day In The Life Of June 2013 Day In The Life Of June 2013

Yesterday was the June day for the "Day in the Life of" group on flickr so here are my photos. (There are quite a few) I had planned to do it as a photo an hour type thing and I did take a photo every hour but some hours were rubbish photos and some hours were more than one good photo so I scrapped that. (A little insight into my mind there...)

Day In The Life Of June 2013

I spent most of the day at the dining table slowly figuring out an R2-D2 phone pouch. Slowly because I was feeling rubbish rather than because it was hard. Will found me some helpers though and I had sweets. I ran out of black embroidery thread and decided we should go outside for a bit (Will was feeling equally rubbish, I blame the humidity) (I didn't buy more black embroidery thread, I'll blame the humidity again). R2's eye isn't a light it's that his head is translucent and the light shines out, I was amazed.

These weeds come back quicker than you can pull them out. Also it was much hotter than I thought it would be and probably shouldn't have been wearing thick leggings and boots. (I'll blame the humidity for all my bad choices, also our cave house is always colder than outside)

We ended up in the library where Will photocopied his hand and I took photos of the ceiling. I love taking photos in the library. I think it's a mixture of the nice lighting and my love for libraries.

Day In The Life Of June 2013

This baby (we think) bird (blackbird?) let us get so close. It was eyeballing us pretty good though so I think if we'd crossed a line it would have run off.

Day In The Life Of June 2013

It happened by accident that this was the next photo I took. Unintentionally morbid. It was propped up on a window ledge type section of building. Nature is really quite fascinating dead or alive.

Day In The Life Of June 2013 Day In The Life Of June 2013 Day In The Life Of June 2013

Pretty flowers and home. Then I was inside with bad light so that's the last of that days photos. A pretty average day, sitting in one place for ages working then deciding I have to go outside or I'll explode.
