Photos of Manga I've Been Reading

Here's all the photos I've taken while reading manga so far this year. It wasn't as many as I thought it would be actually, I think that's because I mostly read in bed before sleep and I often think "I'm too lazy to get my phone, I'll remember to take a photo of that in the morning" and then forget.
Sometimes I take a photo because I feel like I can learn something from the drawing and sometimes it's just a fan thing of really liking a character or panel or joke or whatever and sometimes it's a mix of everything.

Yuu Watase's drawings are just the perfect mix of so beautiful and also really extreme funny expressions. I've also been reading Absolute Boyfriend by her which has some really good examples further down this post.
Made in Abyss by Akihito Tsukushi / Yotsuba& by Kiyohiko Azuma

How Made in Abyss is drawn appeals to me so much, the story is super horrible a lot of the time though, don't be fooled but how cute it looks.
Yotsuba& by Kiyohiko Azuma

Yotsuba is my favourite, I love her so much in so many ways and just look at those copyright pages like a firework going off, it's so cool when people use interesting design for things that have to be there anyway.

I watch the anime of HeroAca and I'm now slowly working my way through the manga (slowly because I'm apparently not the only person borrowing it from the library, who'd have thought) and it's so nice to go over the story again and also to be able to go at my own speed, the anime episodes are always over too soon. I love how Horikoshi draws SO MUCH (the hands😭) and I love all the characters SO MUCH and I love getting to see all the little background bits of panels and the cover/contents page designs are so cool and yeah I just love it all ok.
Nausicaa by Hayao Miyazaki
Nausicaa by Hayao Miyazaki

Unsurprisingly considering the mangaka, Nausicaa is so beautiful, the art as well as the story. I am not articulate enough to explain how this is affecting me, I feel very touched by how she interacts with nature and all the creatures and Miyazaki's use of heavy detail and also negative space is just so good. I'm only 2 volumes in and there's 7? I think? and I'm trying to pace myself so I don't run out, even though I will totally read it again.

Absolute Boyfriend by Yuu Watase

Here are some of those Watase expressions I mentioned at the start, so good, right?

Rin-ne by Rumiko Takahashi

I'm having a lot of fun with Rin-ne, it's funny, he's poor so it's relatable, I'm so in love with Rokumon (the little cat in the last picture of the post), he's such a good boy and so cute. Again, Takahashi is just so good at drawing, a revelation, I know, I'm the first to notice. It's so silly but it's supposed to be and I'm enjoying it a lot. The library don't have it all which is sad but I think I might try the anime after to get more of a fix of the characters.

That's it for now. I might keep doing this, I collect so many images of various things and then they sit on my computer without getting looked at much but it was nice to go back over them. I'd love to know what you've been reading too!

Take care!

Took A Walk ~ 6.3.20

I started this week feeling really down on myself. It's hard to feel like I'm not getting anywhere even though I keep trying so hard. I know the only answer is to keep living to my best each day and take it as it comes so I tried to get myself out of the sad mood.

How nice is this rose?! Even the buds are beautiful, chubby and round.

One of the things I did was to get out of the house which I don't do nearly enough or even as often as I used to. Now that we're leaving winter it should be a bit easier or at least I'll have fewer excuses.

Look at all the crocus'!💖

I went for a quick look in the Rosary Cemetery. It's so nice in there, a good combination of looked after and grown.

So fluffy!

This building is behind the railway station. I'm sure it'll be torn down at some point but I love it as it is in all it's roofless glory.

It felt really good to just walk and take photos, it felt nostalgic, I used to do it a lot and don't really anymore. I've also been listening to music that feels nostalgic too. And I started a second youtube channel that's just for fun which isn't nostalgic but I feel a bit freer now than I did 6 days ago and I hope I can keep building on it.

End of February Start of March

Just some photos I liked. My new bags and all their colours make me smile.

Spring is sprung-ing.

Making stamps out of cheap rubbers was so much fun, I want to do more.

Our garden is a mess but that doesn't mean it isn't pretty, plus it's good for the wildlife. I prefer a mess to something overly trimmed with no character. I think I'm going to try growing something this year, sunflowers? tomatoes?

Naruto 1 to 57

I'm pretty sure Naruto is one long thing without defined season ends and starts but I've made the (maybe wrong) choice to use the wikipedia seasons so I can take breaks along the way and I finished "season 1" (episodes 1-57) and here are the incoherent notes I made on my phone during that time.

Episode 16 This is a BL, right? Naruto and Sasuke are obviously boyfriends.
Do Sasuke and Naruto ever just realise that they love each other and settle into it? Is every arc going to be "we hate each other" "we're going through a thing and we're bonding" "we've been through a thing and love each other" and then a new arc starts and they hate each other again? I hope not. I want them to love each other. I'm not even just being ship-y about it, I'd love to see them form a real platonic friendship where they stop being dumb boys about it. There's SO many episodes, surely that's where it's heading at some point. Please.

When I start an old anime, so everyone else already knows where it's going and because I have stupid anxiety and in this case because there's SO much of it that it could go anywhere, I feel weird getting openly attached to characters, like I'll be "wow I love them" after 20 episodes and then it turns out they're a creep or whatever and everyone else already knows about it.
I dunno, it's stupid.

Naruto - "you don't have the privilege of telling a person what they're like"

It took 47 episodes of Naruto before I cried but hoo boy did Hinata and Neji's fight do it. She's shy and quiet and doesn't really want to do it but she changed her mind and she's trying her hardest and it's not working when it needs to but she keeps trying but then that fight, even though she didn't win you can't call it a failure. I love her so much. And how she always saw that Naruto believed in himself even though everyone was just laughing at him and rejecting him. She's so precious I love her😭
What is it with people telling Hinatas they can't do things!?

Hinata, Rock Lee, Akamaru💖💖💖

when he saved that squirrel I died💖
Episode 49 Rock Lee's backstory. No ninjutsu, no genjutsu less than average taijutsu but he practised like crazy over and over and now he has amazing taijutsu.
"Even though I may not have talent, I'll exceed genius with my efforts"

"I think that I'll never become stronger even though I strive and strive"
"I'm so afraid I can't bear it" - Rock Lee
"There's no point in making the effort if you don't believe in yourself"- Guy sensei

In his fight with Gaara it wasn't effort and trying to better himself that hurt him, it was comparison to others, wanting so badly to beat Neji and Sasuke. But even more so it was Gaara's dick move of crushing his hand and foot.

So, there you have it lol. I'd love to add to these phone notes but my memory doesn't work and I left it too long to do this. Part of why I'm doing this is to hopefully improve at formulating my thoughts and writing about things I like and as the mighty Jake taught us, being bad at something is how you get sorta good at something or whatever so yeah I wanna try but if I can only occasionally make a crappy note and that be all it is then that's fine too but if I don't at least make the crappy notes then I'll never get better at it *shrugs*

Sparks

Bilbobasso performed Amor outside the forum last week and even though we didn't get the best view (we were too busy buying chips first) it was still very impressive.

I love taking photos of bright things in the dark✧・゚: *✧・゚:*

I also took some video from a few different sections of the performance which is in this vlog.

Sovereign House

I keep hearing about how there are various plans by various people to "develop" Anglia Square and I'll be so sad if it any of it gets taken down. It needs some care but the architecture is so cool and, in my opinion, Norwich doesn't need any more "luxury apartments" and Anglia Square doesn't need gentrifying.
I love the whole thing so much but I'm especially in love with Sovereign House at the back. I realised that I hadn't been up there in a while and it'd be one of those things where I sit at home being sad about how much I love it but never see it again so I wanted to take some photos and video of the area.

Back home, looking at what I got I definitely want to go and take more photos. See if I can get some different views and I also realised I've never been upstairs, where the cinema is, I don't even know if you can get up there anymore but I want to find out and maybe get to see it all from some different angles.

I don't know anything about architecture but I know that this is awesome and it often feels like we just blindly hate on anything built in living memory but it'd be so sad if we lost it all.

Here's a post about it by someone that maybe does know about architecture.

I love it so much.

Look. At. These. Tall. Shapes.💖

It's a different issue but I do also love graffiti. Even if it's Garfield.

This post is like a flashback to the old days of the blog when I'd walk around taking photos, I'd like to do more of it again. But I also like that the blog is turning into a manic mixture of things too (^^)
