٩(*•͈ ꇴ •͈*)و ̑̑❀

the wasps still haven't fully left (!) but they are very slow now, bless 'em <3
curry sauce and chips gives me power
a few of the failed attempts at photographing these
also can't get enough of pumpkins/squashes/gourds I'll eat them all

samhain 2020

I'm an interested party rather than a practising witch but I enjoy recognising the sabbats, I'm very into us being a part of nature and how the wheel of the year let's me check in with the seasons in a positive way is a nice time. we're kind of told summer is good and winter is bad but it's just not true.
I had a good samhain, I worked in the morning, I made bread and danced to my halloween playlist, I rested and I surprised Will with my amazing costume. it's not often lately that i feel like i had a "good day" but this day I did

photos of manga i've been reading #2

the first of these posts was on the 20th march, just as we were going into lockdown (the first time). i read most of my manga from the library so that put an end to that, i had a few books out when the libraries closed and then in august i was lucky enough to be given books for my birthday and since then i've ended up buying quite a lot of second hand manga on ebay so there was a bit of a drought but i am back on my bullshit.

Nausicaa by Hayao Miyazaki / Nana by Ai Yazawa
Nana by Ai Yazawa
Cardcaptor Sakura by CLAMP
Cardcaptor Sakura by CLAMP
Kero chan here is how i felt while i was re-reading this and found out it isn't in print anymore😭
i have volume 1 and 2 of the Dark Horse omnibuses and i did the typical idiot thing of "yeah, i'll buy the other two at some point, they're actually quite cheap" and now Kodansha have the license and are releasing each volume as a collectors hardback.
the second half of the story literally isn't in print at the minute and the second hand copies of the omnibuses i've seen are SO expensive and i'm SO mad at myself. and licensers, i'm mad at them too.
Cardcaptor Sakura by CLAMP
i don't want hard cover fancy versions i just want regular read it in bed versions

Cardcaptor Sakura by CLAMP / Inuyasha by Rumiko Takahashi
Caterpillar Boy and Bad Texter Boy by Sanzo / Wish by CLAMP
i ended up with Wish by chance, someone Will follows posted on their stories that they were selling some old manga on ebay and i stalked those listings silly and got all of Wish and i think 5 volumes of Chobits. just as i was going to start reading Wish i was catching up on some blog posts and in this post saw this twitter thread about how the translation handled gender (or just didn't) and i'm glad these things lined up so i knew to insert all my own "theys" while i was reading.
Wish by CLAMP
look at how delicate that colouring is! i love it so much!
Wish by CLAMP
my god chibi Kohaku is so damn cute
Azumanga Daioh by Kiyohiko Azuma
i'm pretty sure Azumanga Daioh was the first manga i ever read. it clearly awakened something in me. i got the omnibus on ebay and re-read it for the first time and i still love it and i'm still very in love with Sakaki.

this post has fallen before a lockdown again but a big box of manga arrived from ebay this morning so i should be ok

do you take photos while you read manga? and can i see them please?

lockdown again

we've had our second national lockdown announced, from thursday 5th november through to at least 2nd december we go back to basically stay at home, everything (mostly) closed.

I don't really know how to feel about it. i'm not going to try and fathom it in a science/government kind of a way, this is more of a self involved/how it'll effect just me kind of a way lol.

it shouldn't effect my work too much and i've basically been staying away from everything except the supermarket anyway, the number of times i've been into the city or to a shop that isn't classed as essential since march could maybe be counted on my fingers so i don't know why i feel weird about another lockdown. i never really left the other one.

maybe it's because earlier this year i had a really rough patch mentally and found being creative really hard in a really scary way and i'm just starting to feel better and i wasn't sure if that was lockdown related or just a coincidence and now here comes another one.

even though i'm a long time hermit i think i've realised that the little time i did spend out of the house was beneficial to my creative brain so after starting to feel like i could pop out here and there again, having that taken away so soon is a worry but overall i'm ok. Yes it's weird and a big deal but I'm not going to let it set me back.

I work in my house, i work online, i can still go out for walks and fresh air.
this year i've been learning to actually rest, i can continue really setting in these new habits.

Maybe i feel like i should be upset or worried but i'm actually ok with it?

I should allow myself to be weirded out by this weird thing but i don't want to use it as an excuse to not get on with stuff when i should just be putting in the effort

This was very self indulgent but i guess a blog that's basically a public diary/documenting my life is self indulgent all of the time anyway and i don't even think that's a bad thing, everyone should do it, i love seeing people's lives, autobiography kinda stops being pure self indulgence when you share it because then it makes connections with others and serves a purpose and what's wrong with being self indulgent anyway, so whatever.

lockdown thoughts so they aren't in my head anymore.

if there's anyone reading this I hope you're doing good ʕ •ᴥ•ʔ

week 43 2020

learning about the blobfish made me so sad
little shop of vegans having halloween doughnuts made me happy
I'm pretty sure this is when my eos m3 died and I don't really know how to feel about it or when I'll be able to fix it if it can even be fixed.
hopefully people enjoy lower quality youtube videos and it'll be some sort of magical boost for me.
Will got two boxes of doughnuts because we're greedy and it's awesome
i'm quite excited about these little felt plush guys
I thought my thumbnails have been looking pretty nice

sunflowers 2020

I loved our sunflowers and they deserve their own post. Through the winter I'd been thinking about how I wanted to try and grow things this year and then spring came and we were in lockdown and I had nothing to grow and I was sad about it in an Eeyore kind of a way "oh well, I suppose I'm just someone that doesn't get to grow things, maybe next time" and then we saw these babies sitting on a wall💖
Look how tiny they were, plants are amazing.
I got so much enjoyment out of watching them grow. look how cool they were even before they flowered.
I loved having them in the garden so much, they were huge and bright and the bees loved them which was adorable (they do laps of the flower, moving all the little flowers around with their hands and aaaahh!! so cute) and it was just a good time.
I wasn't sure whether to let the birds have the seeds or to harvest them but the birds weren't interested anyway, only the pigeons like our garden, so I did some research and left them to dry out before cutting them and bringing them in. their drying out time was actually super rainy so the smallest one was mouldy, the middle sized one's seeds didn't look fully mature anyway and the biggest one had a patch of damp/mould but it was so huge it still had so many seeds.
rubbing all the flowers off was SO satisfying I filmed a lot of it which is in this vlog
you can see the mould at the top of this picture
they're so cool!
I'd never seen the inside of a sunflower before, I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't this.
After washing them I spent some time laying them out nice to dry and this is after they'd sat overnight, see how they've changed colour!
and now they're in their jar in the cupboard under the stairs ready to be a whole army of sunflowers next year. I'm hoping enough of them sprout that we'll be able to put some out the front for people to take, like how we ended up with ours
